I based this off of my own experiences growing up in a small town
I based this off of my own experiences growing up in a small town
I think exploring the rotting of small towns and malls is a cool concept and the monster exists as a metaphor

The monster of the movie is from within the earth and latched on to an old VHS of an old sitcom. The monster feeds on knowledge and memories of those under its control in a pseudo hivemind. Due to its first real foothold being a sitcom it seeks to replicate it in those it controls
The desire to stay the same or to exist in a way that only exists in old TV shows and rebuffing progress is killing small towns from inside out.
